The Child You Have Lost

You slumbered in the middle of the sea,
with a melancholic smile on your soft face,
You dreamed of pretty things that could not be,
your dreams lulled you away to a strange place

It was a place so different and so new,
with colourful birds gliding through the air,
A place where love, hope and faith smiled at you,
where men were so tall and ladies so fair

You ventured off to that faraway land,
where the sky was clear and the sun was bright,
Where you could hold your child’s soft little hand,
where you could cuddle him during the night

This moment is sad but life must go on,
think of what’s coming and not of what’s gone
